The recent situation in Goma has left us checking the news regularly out of concern for those that we love who are in trouble.
Whilst we may feel like small players in a situation where one country and another are in conflict, there are things we can do.
Jesus teaches us to pray and align ourselves with the Father's will - He teaches us to pray 'Your kingdom come, Your will be done'. We join with heaven to declare our hope is in Jesus, and we ask Him to intervene in this situation to bring about good for those who love him.
We also know that our battle isn't against people, but it's against ideologies that set themselves up against God's rule and reign. Ephesians 6:12 says "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." It follows that our prayer has significance in this situation, because we have influence in the spiritual domain as we pray in Jesus' name.
And there are small things we can do, using the skills we have. Kathy recently wrote to a national newspaper to raise the issue of what is happening in Goma amongst the national media. You can read Kathy's letter here.

Micah 6:8 says:
"And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
Let's pray to call on God to intervene and do what we can so that that peace is established in this part of the world.
