Position: Cafe Chef

Hours: Saturday 08:00 - 13:00 (5hrs per week, plus additional optional hours)

Basic Salary: £3150 per annum includes paid holiday allocation of 5.5 shifts

Location: King’s Church, 414, Coxford Road, Lordswood, Southampton. SO16 5LL

Contract: 1 year contract

 

Who we are: CAFE 153 is a popular 28 seated community cafe, situated within King’s Church Centre. It was first opened in 2018, with a vision to be a centre of comfort and company for the Lordswood community. It has become a much-valued community asset, where relationships are put as the primary importance. The secondary aim of CAFE 153 is to provide great quality food and drink, without great expense. Our menu is based around the community coming to have breakfast with us, whilst alternatively providing freshly ground coffees, quality fairtrade teas and homemade cakes. All the staff working at CAFE 153 (except the Cafe Manager), are volunteers from King’s Church and dedicated to ensuring visitors have the best possible experience.

 

Job Description: We're looking for a friendly, experience Cafe Chef, to join our team and help us deliver simple, well-cooked food to our customers. If you're passionate about fresh ingredients, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and love creating simple and well-presented dishes, we want to hear from you.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·       Prepare and cook a variety of cafe menu items, including but not limited to, English cooked breakfasts, omelettes, sandwiches, following established recipes and quality standards. Thereby, ensuring all food is prepared and presented to the highest standards of taste and visual appeal.

·       Work in a team environment, recognising the complimentary skills of others, and sharing experience and training with others as necessary. Communicating well and co-operate with voluntary staff to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction.

·       Food Management, monitor food quality and freshness, proper storage of ingredients whilst adhering strictly to all Food Safety Agency standards and hygiene regulations (HACCP, allergens, etc.), promptly addressing / reporting any issues.

·       Handle special dietary requests and allergies with care and accuracy.

·       Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment and organized workstation, including worktops, equipment and utensils.

·       Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

·       Assist with any further menu development and specials, contributing creative ideas.

·       Participate and actively engage with the schedule planning for shifts from week to week
