Job Opportunity: Community Café Cook
Saturday 08:00 - 13:00 (5hrs)
£3362 per annum / £13.45 per hour
Café 153 is a popular 28 seated community Café, run by King’s Church, Southampton. It was first opened in 2018, with a vision to be a centre of comfort and company for the Lordswood community. It has become a much-valued community asset, where relationships are put as the primary importance. The secondary aim of Café 153, is to provide great quality food and drink, without great expense. Our menu is based around the community coming to have breakfast with us, whilst providing freshly ground coffees, quality fairtrade teas and homemade cakes. All the staff working at Café 153 (except the Café Manager), are volunteers from King’s Church and dedicated to ensure visitors have the best possible experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of Café menu items, including but not limited to, English cooked breakfasts, omelettes and sandwiches, following established recipes and quality standards.
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the highest standards of taste and visual appeal. Whilst adhering to all Food Safety Agency standards and hygiene regulations (HACCP, allergens, etc. to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment).
- Food Management, including proper storage of ingredients and the minimising of waste. Whilst maintain a clean and organized workstation, including worktops, equipment and utensils.
- Handle special dietary requests and allergies with care and accuracy.
- Monitor food quality and freshness, promptly addressing / reporting any issues.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Communicate well and co-operate with voluntary staff to ensure smooth service.
